Know Your Exact Age in Seconds
Most of us know our age in years, but forms, exams and job applications often want more than that. A recruitment notice might ask whether you are at least 21 years old on 1 January. A school admission form may need a child's age in years and months on a specific date. Counting this on your fingers is easy to get wrong, especially when months have different lengths and leap years sneak in.
Enter your date of birth above and the calculator shows your exact age in years, months and days, along with a live count of the hours, minutes and seconds you have been alive. It all happens in your browser, so your birth date is never sent anywhere.
How to Use the Age Calculator
- Pick your date of birth. On a phone, a calendar opens; on a computer you can type the date directly.
- Add your time of birth if you know it. This makes the hours, minutes and seconds more precise, but it is completely optional.
- Leave Age on this date as today, or change it to any past or future date. This is perfect for checking eligibility on a cut-off date.
- Use Copy result to paste a neat summary into a form, a message or your notes.
How Your Age Is Calculated
The calculator counts whole years first, then whole months, and finally the days left over. For example, someone born on 14 May 2000 is 26 years, 5 months and 18 days old on 1 November 2026. Every month is counted by its real length, so February, April and the 31-day months are all handled correctly.
When the starting day doesn't exist in a month, such as the 31st in a 30-day month, the calculator uses the last day of that month instead. This matches the way age is usually worked out in official records and avoids results that jump around.
Checking Age on a Cut-Off Date
Government jobs, competitive exams and school admissions in India almost always state an age limit "as on" a particular date. Change the Age on this date field to that cut-off and you will instantly see whether you fall inside the limit, and by how many days. It is a good habit to check this before you pay any application fee.
Next Birthday Countdown
The ring next to your age fills up as your next birthday gets closer. You can see exactly how many days are left, the age you will turn, and the day of the week it lands on, which is handy when you are planning a party. On your birthday itself, the calculator wishes you a happy birthday.
Life Milestones and Fun Facts
Some birthdays are hiding in plain sight. Your 10,000th day alive usually arrives a little after your 27th birthday, and you cross one billion seconds at around 31 years and 8 months. The Life Milestones panel shows the ones you have already passed and the next few coming up, with exact dates, so you can celebrate them if you like.
The Fun Facts panel adds a few extras: the weekday you were born on, your zodiac sign, your birthstone and your generation. Heartbeats, breaths and hours of sleep are rough estimates based on typical adult averages, so treat them as a bit of fun rather than medical facts.
